    • ]]>     As a web designer you need to test your websites on all major browsers (including IE6) to ensure that they are cross browser compatible. But you are probably already running IE7 or IE8 on your Windows XP system. So how can you install IE6 onto your PC as well? There are two great ways to install multiple versions of IE onto your PC and I will outline them below. Both of these free programs, “Multiple IE” and “IE Tester” were designed to work with Window XP. However there are some work-arounds to run IE6 on Windows 7 and other more recent versions of Windows.

    Run IE6 alongside IE7 and IE8

    Multiple IE

    Install multiple version of IE on your PC with Multiple IE. Multiple IE is basically an installer which contains IE3 IE4.01 IE5 IE5.5 and IE6. Downloading and running the Multiple IE installer will allow you to install the versions of IE that you select and it will allow you to run them as stand-alone ie browsers. This is a great way to install IE6 alongside IE7 and IE8 to test the browser compatibility of your website.

    IE Tester

    IE Tester is another great way to run multiple versions of IE. IE Tester is basically a web browser that allows you to run IE6, IE7 and IE8 at the same time. IE Tester has the rendering engines of IE5.5, IE6, IE7 and IE8 and it runs asa separate browser alongside the installed IE on your PC. IE Tester is another clever way to run multiple versions of IE on your PC.
