Has your wordpress blog been hacked before? WordPress is a great application but it is not 100% secure so it doesn’t hurt to give your blog security a helping hand. Login LockDown is a security plugin for wordpress that helps stop hackers guessing your wordpress password by locking them out after a certain number of failed login attempts.

Login LockDown actually records the IP address and time of any failed login attempt to your wordpress blog account. If more than a certain number of login attempts are recorded in a short amount of time from the same IP range (ie. the same person/bot) then the login function is disabled for any login requests from that IP range. So this will basically help prevent hackers trying to guess your password through brute force password attacks. The plugin settings can be altered but by default it locks for 1 hour if there are 3 failed login attempts from the same IP range. Admins can also release locked out IP’s from the settings panel. Just make sure you don’t lock yourself out of your own blog!

Download Login Lockdown. To install it simply download and unzip the Login Lockdown folder into your plugins directory in wordpress.
